“What should we wear?”
And honestly — outfit choices can make a huge difference in the overall feeling of your photos, especially here in the Pacific Northwest where the natural scenery plays such an important role in the storytelling experience.
At West Coast Wild Photography, I always encourage clients to choose outfits that feel authentic, comfortable, and inspired by the environment around them. The goal is never to look overly posed or overly trendy — it’s to create timeless imagery that feels natural, emotional, and connected to the landscape.
The Pacific Northwest photographs beautifully with earthy, muted, and neutral tones. Colors like cream, beige, olive green, rust, denim, soft blues, warm browns, and muted earth tones complement the forests, coastlines, mountains, and golden fields without distracting from the emotion of the session.
Flowing fabrics, layered textures, cozy knits, linen, denim, boots, and soft natural materials also photograph beautifully and add movement and depth to your images.
For couples and family sessions, I recommend coordinating tones rather than perfectly matching outfits. Choosing colors within the same earthy palette helps create a cohesive look while still allowing everyone’s personality to shine through naturally.
For coastal sessions, soft neutrals and windswept layers photograph beautifully against the dramatic scenery of the Washington and Oregon coastlines. For mountain or forest sessions, deeper earth tones and textured layers help create that cozy cinematic Pacific Northwest feeling.
Most importantly, wear something you feel confident and comfortable in. Genuine connection and emotion will always matter more than perfectly curated outfits.
When booking a session with West Coast Wild Photography, I’m always happy to help guide outfit choices and styling inspiration to help bring your vision to life.
